Appreciate all the work you do to have a nice site like this for good ol' arcade games! Hope you are well!

Hello all,

I really appreciate all you guys' suggestions for the arcade shrines I can work on. The past year has been a tough and weird one for all of us, myself included, as my time became very loaded for most of the year, which is why I sort of took a break from making shrines. If there is a regret, I wish I could have slowed down in rolling out some of the shrines I have made in advance back then, so I could have released at least 2 shrines a month.

I really love making these shrines, sort of my love letter to going to the neon glow of arcades, ogling at those movelists, flyers and bezels, browsing manuals and strategy magazines (and cringing at the authors' quips) and of course, the geocities and angelfire aesthetic.

Please be patient with me when I take some (ok, a lot) time to work on shrines that are heavily suggested. I also need to play that game and have some resources I can work on to get a general layout. I usually include boss character moves, but as I want to focus on arcades, it's a toss-up if I could work on including console exclusive stages or content, as I mentioned in the front page.

I am rolling out some revamps throughout the site's shrines and I still plan to overhaul pages that are incomplete or I'm not satisfied with. I'll try to call those revamps my Easter Eggs if you could spot them.

After my hiatus, I wanted the February shrines to be a surprise, so I hope you guys enjoyed the pages for Tattoo Assassins and Ehrgeiz. From here on, my year is still fairly loaded, but I'll try my best to have at least ONE or TWO shrines a month. Keep 'em suggestions coming.

Till then. ~ AQM

Hi OSVGI! Thank you for the message.

Your corrections are GREATLY, greatly appreciated! I tend to overlook a lot of stuff time by time, so I reuploaded the CvS2 shrine and everything should be going good now.

As far as Denjin Makai's shrine, IIRC I used the US version for the main game and used the Japan version only for the bonus games. I didn't know much yet about those branching routes (and that Infantry gashapon!), so if you have more data, please let me know so I could update the Denjin Makai shrine too if I get a chance to work on its Guardians sequel -- eventually. But man, those point differences relying on HP level would surely be a headache.

amazing site!

couple things: under CVS2, Vice's profile is headed "RYU", while Evil Ryu's profile uses (regular) Akuma's pictures.
Additionally, and I'm not quite sure how, I sometimes end up at "(url)/cvs2_bosses.html" (which is looking for non-existent PNG files) instead of the fully functional "(url)/capcom/cvs2_bosses.html". Might be a mobile thing?

On Denjin Makai...you did a very nice job identifying all the food items. I suspect the "ginseng" is actually a rather unlucky lizard on a skewer, tho.

I had some notes of my own about the various point items, which I unfortunately don't have with me at the moment. I think there might be a capsule toy of the male grunt like there is for the female, but I could be wrong on that. I do remember, however, that there's a score multiplication system that is easy to miss - again, this is off the top of my head, but I believe items (and attacks?) are worth twice as much when under 66% HP, and four times as much when under 33%. That might explain the apparent difference when the language/overseas dipswitch is toggled, or you could be right about that little change.

Speaking of things easily missed - do you happen to know anything about the 'optional' areas in the middle four stages? All of them have sections before the boss arena which the player doesn't always end up visiting, but I can't figure out a consistent way of reaching them - or avoiding them.
*HIGH WAY - after getting into the construction site elevator, it can take me straight to fighting Shiden or instead first stop at the area you show in stage2c.png, where the enemies are taking a Metal Slug-esque break.
*AMUSEMENT PARK - after fighting the lizard men in their underground lair, the next section is usually the annoying spike dozer chase. But not always? Sometimes I end up in the final section instead.
*BAY SIDE - like in HIGH WAY, it seems like a coin flip whether I fight Neptune immediately after entering the ship interior, or first go through a long corridor area.
*MILITARY BASE - the one that I really wish I could avoid, the pod-filled pit seen in stage5c.png isn't always waiting to drive me crazy. But it usually is...

What's odd about these sections is that the ones in HIGH WAY and BAY SIDE seem like beneficial bonus areas, as I believe they have a couple guaranteed health items. But the areas in AMUSEMENT PARK and MILITARY BASE definitely feel like punishing traps that force the player to focus on their mobility more than most of the game does. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but like I said, I have no idea what determines whether these sections get visited or not. Do you know anything about this?

I guess I need to find those notes and check out the alternate set added to MAME last year...

Thanks to all the suggestions!

Somto, Ninja Baseball Bat Man is already in the site. Two titles from your list will come about soon.

JGamer, I try to swerve away from bullet-hell games for now, but I might work on a few sports titles every now and then.

So far, the queue has been filled up to about the most part of next year, so I won't be taking in more suggestions for the time being. Rest assured some of the titles that have been suggested months ago will be featured in the near future updates.

Hi Josh, thanks a lot for the correction!

I made the KOF shrines several years back and I had to refer from the SNK wiki for a bit, but even then I felt something was off between the Japan and China stages until you brought it up.

I always loved those little snippets and "official" game-given terminologies from arcades and manuals and I always seek to have them get a nod on the game's shrines.

More of these shrines are coming, this year is more about fighting games!

Fantastic job on the site! Takes me back to my childhood on a lot of those games, plus I get a chance to see ones I didn't get the chance to play!

Only one correction to make that I could see - on the captions for the stages from The King of Fighters 2003, you have the Japan and China stages switched. The Japan stage has the Niou gate in the background and the China stage is the industrial park (the big sign on the right says "KOF" in Chinese). The "Before Gate" and "Bleed" are still correct, just the countries need to be flipped. You also get points alone just for noticing the stage names in the credits - I never noticed those before!

For anyone with Twitter, be sure to participate in the poll on which fighting games I would first feature for Part 1 of the 9th anniversary.

The other genre links used to be active too, but I had only updated the BEU lineup at the time that included other company games.

The other genres only had Capcom and SNK iirc. I might put the old links back up sometime.
